Pope John Paul II Talks to Workers in Upper Silesia, Poland

April 26 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Fr. Witold Kania has returned to Houston and will give his own explanation of how the workers in Upper Silesia helped liberate a continent.

Saint , being bishop and cardinal of Cracow, several times visited the most industrial region of Poland – Upper Silesia. He preached and greeted workers during the yearly pilgrimage of men to Sanctuary of Our Lady of Piekary, and then as a Pontiff he addressed them in Częstochowa and Katowice. In a time of communist oppression his preaching was important in forming a Christian approach to work and the worker. He was the voice of many workers demanding respect for human dignity and for social love and justice.
